Finding Health Data and Statistics

The purpose of this guide is to assist JPS researchers with locating health and data statistics. This guide provides links to sources of data and statistics collected and provided by numerous organizations and agencies.

Defining Health Data and Statistics

Data refers to the raw numbers or information that count events or services collected at various geographical levels. Data may be collected in surveys, research, experiments, etc. and focuses on the quality and quantity.

Data Sets consists of data collected and organized according to criteria.

Statistics are data that have been analyzed and presented as percentages, tables, maps, graphs, or charts to capture data trends in a summary or narrative.

How the Medical Library Can Help

Need help locating health statistics and data? JPS Medical library is committed to supporting researchers with their scholarly work at all stages of the research process. Reach out to the library for assistance with finding statistical resources to support your research. Librarians can search through statistical databases, biomedical literature and web resources for search requests that need statistics or data.

Please note that the Medical Library cannot assist with JPS patient level data. Librarians are also unable to help with producing or interpreting data for research.
